Ink Cartridge Recycling

The library is now accepting all brands of used ink and toner cartridges. By donating them to us you will be doing a great thing for our environment AND helping the library purchase costly items such as paper and craft supplies.

New Hours!

Beginning February 4, 2010 we will be open on Thursday evenings from 6-8pm.

We want to continue expanding to include more daytime hours. If you have 3 hours available during the week, won't you consider volunteering? Training is provided and you will meet some really nice folks and have a wonderful time. You will check-in/check-out books and issue library cards. Computer experience helpful but not required. (it's that easy!) Call us at 360-0714 or simply stop by for more info.

"A is for Artist" Children's Summertime Craft Program

The Monroe Lending Library is the recipient of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation "Summertime Kids" Grant.  "A is for Artist" will be our summer reading/craft program introducing children to the art of four main artist:  Dale Chihuly, Jackson Pollack, Louise Nevelson and Charley Harper.  This four week program will be open to the children of the Monroe Community, either as visitors from a locall summer care group or on Saturday mornings during our normal library hours.  Our goals for this program are to share literature about and some of the famous art of these artist; show the differences and relationships between the artist and allow the children to create their own art similar to that of the artist whom we are studying each week.  Projects the children will be making are Dale Chihuly plastic glass sculpture, Louise Nevelson junk art, Jackson Pollack rock splatter paint and Charley Harper wildlife.  The "A is for Artist" progrm is scheduled for July 11, 18, 25 and August 1st.  To register your child for this program, please stop by the Monroe Lending Library (behind the Monroe Primary School) during our open hours or call the Library at 370-0714.  The four-week project will culminate in an art show, displaying all the children's art projects.  We are planning a picnic party in conjunction with our art show handling out prizes to the children for their work.
